I made up a New Year’s Resolution for this year, like many people do, and like many people do, I’ve failed thus far to reach any of them.
One of the goals I had was to get more involved in the writing community. I have a lot of friends who write, and we have a private group on Facebook where we message each other and get feedback. That group means a lot to me, and I’m grateful that I have close friends who share my interests and support me.
But I also had in mind getting to know other writers that are outside my usual social circle. I’ve attempted to go to a couple set times for a writing group, but those were far and few between.
I’m planning on going soon. Try it again.
But no matter what, I am still involved. My friends are so helpful and we’ve got a strong group going on. I couldn’t imagine not having them in my life to edit, to encourage, to listen to my rants, and to allow me the opportunity to return the favor.
Every writer needs to be involved in the community in some way, big or small. I wouldn’t mind attempting to broaden my involvement, but sometimes, all you need is a few good friends who all have a story to tell.
To all my friends: thank you! You’re all talented and essential, and I can’t wait to see all your successes in the future.
