It’s raining, it’s pouring, and even though the sky is gray and the earth is wet, I’m not actually talking about the weather.
My grandma (Mom’s mom) is living with us as she’s been diagnosed with Stage 3 bile duct cancer. She’s had a lot of challenges recently due to that, from passing out and hitting the ground hard the other morning to infections and nearly no energy.
This week, my grandpa (Dad’s dad) had a heart attack. Also this week, one of my brothers was in a car accident. Both of those guys are fortunately okay. It could have been worse.
And to top it all off, now my carpet is sopping wet in my bedroom. My poor dad’s going to fix the problem so I don’t, you know, flood.
I would like to go on a vacation now. Far away. Maybe relax on a beach somewhere, read a stack of books, bring some loved ones with me.
They say bad things come in threes, but apparently my family is an exception to the rule.
Despite all this, though, we’re all hanging in there. Overall things are still good. We laugh, we joke, we have a good time. Stress can’t take over completely, and we haven’t let it.
As long as you can still find a smile on your face, you haven’t lost the battle yet.
