Over the years, I always forget that NaNo-Eve falls on Halloween. There was a time I’d try to stay up to write at midnight, but no way is that happening this year. November 1st at 12 AM, you’ll find me fast asleep in bed so I can get up in the morning.
Still, I plan to participate this year and I’m excited for it.
What big plans do I have for National Novel Writing Month? I’m glad you asked. I’m asking myself the same thing.
One thing I know for certain is that I’m going to be writing here every day the month of November. I, and a few of my author friends, are coming up with daily prompts to help us out.
I should probably come up with another plan. A novel to write during the month we’re supposed to be writing novels. I know of several people who do what they want during November, but it’s been so long since I’ve finished writing a book that I’d like to remember how it feels.
Part of me would like to open a document with no plans and just start something. No idea who the characters are or what problems they’re facing. Just go for it blindly. I know that doesn’t work. But lately neither does planning.
This month I’m going to fall back in love with writing. It’s possible and it’s going to happen. I won’t give myself another option.
Plus it’d be great if I didn’t have to have my almost 18-year-old brother lecturing me about my goals and doing something about them. It sucks, but everything he says to me is right.
Don’t tell him I said that.
